R(ai) W. Cole is a queer, innovative author, a long-time prospect ready for the majors. Being critically deficient of attention, the last few decades has seen her take up work as a professional illustrator, decently successful webcomic artist, vampire-ly pop culture blogger, prize-winning playwright, short story author, and podcast co-host, while somehow finding the time to fill clearance-priced off-brand notebooks with outlines for novels. Her work has been appearing on the Internet since what was likely an inappropriate age, as well as in podcast publication Wily Writers, gaming supplements in White Wolf’s Exalted line, and on stage at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
Mx. Cole started writing fan fiction in middle school, when she realized stories weren’t ever going to go her way otherwise. This branched into several, separate novels starring her teenaged friends as magical girls. These eager, sincere beginnings inform her writing to this day: she loves telling stories with an emotional megaton punch and weaving mysteries that leave even the savviest genre-heads guessing.
Storytelling is not so much a passion of hers as it is an autonomic function. Her heart beats, her eyes blink, her brain makes something up.
Mx. Cole is represented by Veronica Park of the Corvisiero Literary Agency.
